8 channel transducer set up and stainless steal installation, 2017, original duration: 75min
„Die Grenzen meiner Sprache bedeuten die Grenzen meiner Welt“ - Ludwig Wittgenstein
Based on this quote, sound artist Moritz Nahold embarked on a journey through the neighboring Trigon states of Hungary, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Croatia in the summer of 2017. Supported by funding of the province of Styria, in the discourse with many other artists and musicians, the journey created not only new projects and joint concerts, but also a special soundscape: Nahold documented the acoustic images of the cities and landscapes. The composer's aim was to break through boundaries that exist not only through language and cultural differences, but are also manifested in walls and fences. Wittgenstein's quotation should be refuted because music might be bigger and cross-cultural, a universal language of the people. The result of the three-week adventure trip is a sound composition, an acoustic impression of the journey, which is not only to be performed laughably and one-dimensionally to the untrained ear, but spreads its beauty in a well-tuned steel cage. Nahold collaborated with visual artist Benjamin Thiele. Together, they developed a multi-layered steel construction, which is supplemented with transducers that make the sound composition of the journey resonate. This gives the broad soundscape of three weeks Trigon a permanent place in the visual and haptic space and enables a well-rounded experience of the cultural experiment.
